During this open conversation, facilitators will guide participants through a series of discussion topics focused and centered around the themes of community and artistry.

  • Artistry: What does it mean to be a Teaching Artist? How does that show up in your professional work as a presenting or performing artist? What is your artist statement and how do you define your work to others? How does your personal artistry inform the way you design and deliver residency work for students?
  • Community: How do you uphold the happenings in your community while you engage different audiences? How does your community affect your practice as a teaching, presenting and performing artist? How do you build and cultivate relationships within and through the school communities you service in order to enhance your practice as an artist? How can we learn about the neighborhood and geographic community of the schools where we teach?
