Goals

Practice cultural cosmetology through hair care, skin care, and more

Learn new strategies for self care and self love

Cultural Cosmetology is a self love course curated for preteen + brown girls, in order to celebrate our hair and skin through learning ancient practices of taking care of it, while cultivating radical self love. Artist Ayana Sade created Cultural Cosmetology for students in the CRAE (Culturally Responsive Arts Education) program for Pittsburgh Public Schools, responding to her own unmet adolescent needs, and will now be offering this workshop series live on her Instagram account (@ayana.sade). It will also be shared on the Creative Learning Network’s Facebook Page. This special adaptation will be taught in three parts on August 28, September 4, and September 11 at 4pm:

Part I – Hair Maintenance and Care

Part II – Protective Styles

Part III – Cultural Adornment and Self Love

A notebook and pencil or pen is recommended for participation in this workshop series.
