David Jennings-Smith

David Jennings-Smith is a native Pittsburgher & musician. Music has always been a part of his life, his calling. David started piano instruction at age 8 when a new piano magically appeared in the family living room.

David studied at Carnegie-Mellon University with Dr. Lee Cass, with a scholarship from the Tuesday Musical Club of Pittsburgh. Upon Dr. Cass’s urging, David auditioned for Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera (CLO) and the Pittsburgh Opera and was accepted by both organizations in that same year. He remained with the CLO for 15 years & still is a member of Pittsburgh Opera after 42 years.

He is former chair of the Vocal Dept of CAPA High School & former director of the Nouveau Noir Vocal ensemble & he continues to teach voice and piano privately. One might say “Music is his life”.
