Goals

  • Learn the foundational techniques of singing

  • Develop techniques to stay calm while performing

  • Learn proper breathing technique

  • Practice the skills learned by singing along with a practice recording

In this 5-part course, students will learn the foundations of vocal technique. These techniques are the basic things singers need to know in order to do any kind of singing in any musical genre. It’s the foundational work that every singer needs in order to continue to blossom into their own individual singing voices. We will focus on breathing, diction, vocalizing, and performance practices.

No prior singing or voice lesson experience is required for this course.

Zuly Inrio

Afro-Dominican operatic soprano Zuly Inirio has appeared as a soloist throughout the United States and Europe. She actively pursues bringing awareness to Afro-Latinidad in classical music and through her artistry and activism, works toward equity and liberation for BIPOC.

Most recently, Ms. Inirio has sung the role of the High Priestess and covered the title role in Verdi’s Aida with the Mythos Opera Festival in Sicily, Italy.

Ms. Inirio holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts and a minor in 19th-Century French Literature and currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
